Why this annotation
The top hub genes NFE2L2 (NRF2) and KLF9 are canonical transcription factors of the oxidative and electrophilic stress response. NFE2L2 is the master regulator of the antioxidant response element (ARE) pathway. KLF9 is a stress-responsive Krüppel-like factor induced by oxidative stress and glucocorticoids. ENO1 moonlights as a stress sensor, CAP1 and CXXC5 participate in stress-linked cytoskeletal and Wnt/redox signaling. NPC2 is involved in lipid homeostasis under cellular stress. The module significantly decreases with inflammation (delta_inflammation_UC sig.) and increases with remission, consistent with suppression of a homeostatic oxidative stress defense program during active IBD. Moderate coherence reflects mixed but related stress-response sub-programs.
