Why this annotation
GJA5 (Connexin 40, canonical arterial EC gap junction protein), FBLN5 (fibulin-5, arterial ECM component regulating elastogenesis), DHH (Desert Hedgehog, expressed by arterial ECs and pericytes), PTPRJ (DEP-1/CD148, regulates VEGFR2 signaling and EC proliferation), RSPO3 (R-spondin 3, Wnt pathway amplifier expressed in ECs), VEGFC (promotes lymphangiogenesis and angiogenesis). Strongly upregulated in inflammation (delta ~0.6 UC) with near-complete reversal in remission. Despite containing arterial markers (GJA5, FBLN5, DHH), the strong inflammation upregulation and VEGFC/RSPO3 suggest this reflects inflammatory angiogenic/arterial EC remodeling rather than homeostatic arterial identity.
