ATXN7 — Ataxin 7

ATXN7 belongs to a gene co-expression module in 3 of 28 SCUBA cell types. Each module groups genes that rise and fall together in that cell type; the genes it shares a module with are its closest co-expression partners there.

Function

Acts as a component of the SAGA (aka STAGA) transcription coactivator-HAT complex. Mediates the interaction of SAGA complex with the CRX and is involved in CRX- dependent gene activation. Probably involved in tethering the deubiquitination module within the SAGA complex. Necessary for microtubule cytoskeleton stabilization. Involved in neurodegeneration.
