Why this annotation
Hub genes are dominated by mitochondrial ribosomal proteins (MRPS25, MRPS12, MRPS34, MRPS33, MRPS7, MRPL16, MRPL15, MRPL37), mitochondrial translation factor TUFM, ATP synthase subunit ATP5MC1, mitochondrial inner membrane scaffold PHB2, mitochondrial thioredoxin TXN2, mitochondrial aminoacyl-tRNA synthetase FARSB, and iron-sulfur cluster assembly factor BOLA3. All are core members enriched in crypt colonocytes. The module is strongly suppressed in inflammation and restored in UC remission, consistent with mitochondrial dysfunction in IBD. This is a tight mitochondrial translation and oxidative phosphorylation program.
