MYL9 — Myosin light chain 9
MYL9 belongs to a gene co-expression module in 4 of 28 SCUBA cell types. Each module groups genes that rise and fall together in that cell type; the genes it shares a module with are its closest co-expression partners there.

Function
Myosin regulatory subunit that plays an important role in regulation of both smooth muscle and nonmuscle cell contractile activity via its phosphorylation. Implicated in cytokinesis, receptor capping, and cell locomotion. In myoblasts, may regulate PIEZO1-dependent cortical actomyosin assembly involved in myotube formation (By similarity).
