GTF3A — General transcription factor IIIA

GTF3A belongs to a gene co-expression module in 4 of 28 SCUBA cell types. Each module groups genes that rise and fall together in that cell type; the genes it shares a module with are its closest co-expression partners there.

Function

Involved in ribosomal large subunit biogenesis. Binds the approximately 50 base pairs internal control region (ICR) of 5S ribosomal RNA genes. It is required for their RNA polymerase III- dependent transcription and may also maintain the transcription of other genes. Also binds the transcribed 5S RNA's (By similarity).
