PITPNB — Phosphatidylinositol transfer protein beta

PITPNB belongs to a gene co-expression module in 3 of 28 SCUBA cell types. Each module groups genes that rise and fall together in that cell type; the genes it shares a module with are its closest co-expression partners there.

Function

Catalyzes the transfer of phosphatidylinositol and phosphatidylcholine between membranes. Also catalyzes the transfer of sphingomyelin (By similarity). Required for COPI-mediated retrograde transport from the Golgi to the endoplasmic reticulum; phosphatidylinositol and phosphatidylcholine transfer activity is essential for this function.
