MZT2A — Mitotic spindle organizing protein 2A

MZT2A belongs to a gene co-expression module in 6 of 28 SCUBA cell types. Each module groups genes that rise and fall together in that cell type; the genes it shares a module with are its closest co-expression partners there.

Function

Required for the recruitment and the assembly of the gamma- tubulin ring complex (gTuRC) at the centrosome. The gTuRC regulates the minus-end nucleation of alpha-beta tubulin heterodimers that grow into microtubule protafilaments, a critical step in centrosome duplication and spindle formation.
